Policy version 1.0 · Last updated 10 August 2026
This policy applies to this website only. Data you provide in the course of a professional engagement is governed by that engagement's terms and by our professional obligations as Chartered Accountants.
Information we collect
We collect only what you choose to send us. There are two forms on this website:
- Consultation enquiries. Your name, email address, phone number, company name, the service you are enquiring about and anything you write in the message field.
- Newsletter subscription. Your name, email address, and optionally your company and phone number.
Our servers also record standard technical information sent by your browser — IP address, browser and device type, referring page and the pages you view. Where analytics cookies are used, this is described under Cookies below.
We do not ask for, and you should not send through this website, financial account credentials, payment card details, government identification numbers, or any sensitive personal data. Documents for an engagement are exchanged through channels agreed with you directly, not through this site.
Why we collect it
Enquiry data is used to respond to you, to assess whether we are able to act, and to carry out the client acceptance checks our profession requires. Newsletter data is used only to send the briefing you asked for. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use enquiry data to add you to the newsletter — subscribing is a separate, deliberate act on your part.
For visitors in the EU or UK, our lawful bases are your consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies) and our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you initiated.
Newsletter consent
The newsletter runs on double opt-in: after you submit the form we send a confirmation email, and you are added to the list only when you respond to it. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at any time by writing to contact@rnthakur.com.
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics and, only with your consent, marketing. No analytics or marketing cookie is set before you respond to the consent banner shown on your first visit. Cookies strictly necessary for the site to function — for example, remembering your consent choice — are set without consent, as permitted.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, which will cause the banner to be shown again on your next visit.
Who your data is shared with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We share it only with service providers who operate this website and our email delivery on our behalf, and who are permitted to process it solely on our instructions; and where we are required to disclose it by law, by a court, or by a regulator including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Where your data is held
Data submitted through this website is stored on servers located in India. If you contact us from outside India, your data will be transferred to and processed in India. Where that transfer is from the EU or UK, it is made on the basis of appropriate safeguards or because it is necessary to respond to a request you have made.
Retention
Consultation enquiry data is retained for 24 months of inactivity and then purged. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Where an enquiry becomes an engagement, the resulting records are kept for the longer periods our professional and statutory obligations require.
Security
This website is served over an encrypted connection, and access to submitted enquiries is limited to those in the firm who need it in order to respond. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data sent to us online.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or complete it, ask us to erase it, or withdraw a consent you have given. Write to contact@rnthakur.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Some data cannot be erased on request where we are required to retain it — for example, records connected to a completed engagement. If that applies we will tell you, and say why.
Children
This website is intended for businesses and their advisers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the version number and date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes affecting how we use data you have already given us will be notified to you directly where we hold an address for you.
Contact
Questions, requests and complaints about this policy or about how we handle personal data can be sent to contact@rnthakur.com, or by post to Thakur & Associates, Chartered Accountants, 64, Gangotri, Vikaspuri, Delhi 110018.
